My contract ends this year. It's very tempting to switch with announcement of this new equipment!

Re: DISH Network Introduces Whole Home DVR with Hopper & Joey

Thanks for all of the great info on the new DVR. I can’t
wait until I can upgrade to this new setup. The 2 terabyte hard drive is huge.
It would take me a long time to record 250 hours of HD content, especially because
the new Primetime Anytime feature doesn’t impact my recording space! Another
big feature I am excited about is the redesigned GUI. That beefy processor really
shines. I am lucky in that I am employed at DISH and my position granted me a
little sneak preview. In the few precious moments I spent with the Hopper and
Joey I was very impressed by the refinement and speed of the new menus and
program guide. They even included network logos so finding your favorite
channel is even easier. Even with those big features I found that they paid
attention to some smaller refinements that really set it apart. Each Joey and
Hopper features a remote locator button eliminating the inevitable, aggravating
search for the remote. I already have a Sling Adapter. Once I get a Hopper it
will be like having my own personal cloud to stream all of my live channels
plus all that DVR content I will be stock piling!

It could be fun to enjoy youtube on TV.
Openbox S10

Re: DIRECTV vs DISH Network — Who has a better DVR?

DIRECTV’s whole home DVR is not worth the money you
have to pay $99 for each receiver you need for your whole home DVR and if you
have a big house and family like me you'll need at least 6 rooms that cost me
$396! I know your think wow you actually paid that well since I was already in
a contract I had no choice and unless I wanted to pay a lot more, but once I
got DISH Network things started to look up I got three HD receivers for free
and HD free for life that DIRECTV did not offer me. I recently found out from a
co-worker at DISH that DISH carries some Networks in HD that DIRECTV could not
offer me like G4, Style, E!, tru TV, and Investigation Discovery. DISH was the first and only company to provide for than 200 national HD channels. They also offer the HD Free For Life Promotion to qualified customers as part of all their basic level programming packages (top120 and above) while Direct only offers HD Free on their upper and top tiered programming packages.

Re: Free HD For Life

Wow, you mean if I was a current Directv subscriber, I could get HD free for two years? But new customers get it for life? That is the thing with Directv, they got loyalty all wrong. I work at DISH network, and at DISH out current subscribers are as important as our new customers, why our HD free for life package is available to all customers for life.
